header question
A few things:
There are two types of header available for your RSX:
1) Short header that only replaces the stock manifold and retains the stock downpipe + cat.
2) Race header which has longer primaries and replaces the stock downpipe.
All short header (1) will not give you much performance gain and are not worth any price! However, both the Comptech Race header and the Jackson Race header make great power gains. I Prefer the Jackson race header (and ordered it for my RSX) because of its design you can actually run an aftermarket cat in the stock cat location. The Comptech header does not allow you to do this, you'd have to run the cat further down stream and cut into your aftermarket exhuast. That is, if you even run a cat. This brings us to price. The Comptech race header is $900+, the Jackson Racing race header can be had for $560ish delivered to your door through Summit Racing.

the dc is also supposed to be a nice piece, and the cost is really not that high. i have the dc cai in our type s & it's nice & install was easier than the aem b/c of teh new washer resevior
I agree with you on a DC CAI but not on a header. The gains made on an RSX with the DC Header are minimal, though the highest among the short-type headers....spend a few more and get the JAckson racing....way more HP
thats why you get the short header and testpipe.. but that'll be about the same price as the J.R. headers.
well if anyone is interested Im selling my DC headers for $270shipped.... i want my ecu upgrade!

yes, a short header and straigh pipe will make more power than just the short header, but it won't make the same power as a comptech race header or J.R. header! The design is completely different...the longer runners account for the increase in HP
how bout a comptech header with an aftermarket race pipe? i just got a coptech header for 300 on e bay. iwas going to get the race pipe for 200 totaling 500 or whould i sell the header?

IMO--If I was in your situation, I would sell the header and buy the Jackson Racing one from Summit Racing for like 565 shipped...The design af that header makes more power. It's not just the lack of a catalytic converter.
