how in the hell does this happen??? please tell me!!!!!! this is a quote from an ebay auction for a crx "The original motor seized at over 140,000 miles. This was due partly to the02 sensor going out and the engine running rich, along with the high mileage."
people take the o2 sesnor for granted if your 02 goes out and you dont fix it your motor will stay in open loop.....and your a/f ratio will go to a set ratio already programmed into prom the computers brain as you may put it.....this cannot be erased unlesss you have like zdyne or have it chipped....
the engine will never no what to do and most of the time when this happens especially with teht 02 and it reads less air you tend to dump fuel....hydrolocking the engine....
the correct air fuel is at 14.7 to 1....if you run rich like 12 to 1 or so....your engine can hydrolock on fuel easily.....
theres more to it then that....but put it this way the 02 is a very valuable asset to the driveability of any motor.
