Everybody call your dealers and check for a recall!!!!
Ok so my distributor is on its death bed, bearing in it is shot and car is dyeing. I take my car to my friend Fabio, who is an unbelieveable mechanic who works out of his garage on weekends, mostly Sunday's. He is the head tech over at the local Benz dealership and specializes in mostly electronical work on Benz's. He knows a Ton of information and he treats everyones car as if it were his own. Anyhow I go to him with with a rebuilt distributor from the local autoparts place that I picked up for like 200 bucks and gave it to him to install. He told me that I didn't need it, I should call my dealer and see if my 92 Integra has had a recall on the distributor done on it, if so I get a new factory built Honda distributor. I checked up on it and as it turns on my car didn't have the recall done, so I now get a brand new distributor from Honda, Honda installs it for free and it comes with a new ignitor, cap and rotor which the rebuilt didn't have.
Pretty good huh? He did it out of honesty. He could have said that he would install my rebuilt and made a little cash on it, but instead told me to call around and get it down for free.
Anyhow just wanted you guys to check it out, just call the dealer and give them your VIN # and they will run a check on it.
Thanks
Evan
P.S The dealer wanted close to 500 bucks for a new one plus install

Sometimes you don't always get a letter. Lost in the mail or get car 2nd hand. I believe there was a site http://www.autopedia.com that had info about recalled but somehow honda and acura recalls were blocked from the site.
It's worth a call to the dealership.
I've had recalls done twice, once on a '79 VW Scirocco for brake lines. The Reeves import motors in Tampa Fl. installed USED brake lines in the car and bent my frame on their hoist. Another time I had injectors put in on my 300ZX at Ferman Nissan in Tampa. The car ran worse when I got it back and all I got was a lame BS excuse about how the old injectors were worn out and that's why it ran better before.
I don't know if I'll ever take a car in for recall work again, the stealerships don't seem to enjoy doing them.

I've posted this before about '97 Integras... there's an emissions recall on some of them... they'll replace your spark plugs, spark plug wires, and distributor if I'm not mistaken... http://www.4acura.com/service/updates/98-031.asp affects all 96/97 Integras except for the Type-R, 95 NSX/2.5TL, all other 96 models except for the SLX. as for the '92 distributor cap recall, you can see it at http://www.4acura.com/service/updates/96-022.asp
daym...never thought a dealer would do ANYTHING for free...
