I ran a 14.82 @94mph sunday. I didn't have to shift into 4th until right after the et line. I did shift to fourth before the mph line(about 5 yards after the et line/sensor).

I have a H22a w/ a H23a1 tranny. Are you guys with H22a trannies shifting to fourth before the end or not?

When I crossed the line I was at 7500-7600 rpm in third.

 

in my f22 im shifting into 4th way b4 the end of the track, i have a h23 tranny and i shift at around 5700-6000.... so you prolly would be maxing out 3rd at the end...

try holding on to the gear till the end, if you can make it over the line w/o shifting then thats about 0.3 sec you will save. if you cant then try short shifting into 4th at around 71-7200 and see what happens..... rember every time you shift thats about 0.2-0.5 sec your not acelerating

 

i also have a jdm h22 with the h23 tranny. i have to shift to fourth or else il hit the rev limiter. what mods do you have. the first time to the track with my car i ran 14.8 and im planning to go back soon and run some mid to low 14s.

 

What times are you running and with what gearbox?

your hitting 5th gear? yet oly trapping 99mph? hmmm, i go to bithlo all the time, i drive a 93 lude jdm vtec, and i run 13s and trap at 102, and im barely hitting 4th before the end of the track...are you sure your going into 5th?

 

I was also hitting 5th last year with a H23A tranny...but I was shifting into 5th at around the 1000foot mark at ~110mph...
That is also on 22inch tires...

The previous year...with the 12.4 @ 112mph run, I was right at the end of 4th (near 8000rpm) on 22inch slicks when I crossed the line...

Work out the gearing, and don't forget to account for losses through the transmission (i.e. usually 2-5%).

p.s. with the new custom gearing/final drive setup...the shift to 5th will not occur (at least until i'm trapping over 140mph )...not to mention the upgrade to 26" slicks

 

i understand your XES, but hes not trapping that high at all....in fact hes trapping lower than me, so i just dont see how hes getting into 5th gear thats all...peace

If he's going off his stock tach, he might be short shifting it.

 

I run a 8000rpm redline w/ a 96 vtec tranny and found I had better times and trap speeds changing into 4th before the end of my runs.....

 

I'm in fourth for about I believe 100ft before I finish. I'm running a JDM h22a with a h23a1 tranny.

 

man i wander why i only pulled a 14.8 with i/h/e. i thought the h23 tranny was slowing me down but apparently people are running ok times with it. maybe just that full tank and being my first time at the track with the new motor.

 

I also hit redline in 3rd right as I cross the line in my H23, and I trap @ 88mph. So your higher revs would let you carry it out another ~6 mph, so you're good. I'd saw if you're running out of revs right before the line, keep it in 3rd unless you'll hit the limiter, then you have to shift.

I just ran my car a the track about a week ago and hit 14.21 @ 103mph in 5th gear with a 2.5 60ft.

 

get your launch down and youl be in the 13s easy.

 

why are you in 5th? 4th goes to 120 or more depending on the tranny/redline/tires size.

 

My peak power is between 6900 and 7100rpms so i'm shifting at about 7100. I've got an H22a1 tranny and I ran with my stock 15's with a pair 205/50/r15 drag radials (launched at 2000 and still spun all of 1st ad 2nd). My car should EASILY be in the mid 13 range. My biggest problem is traction.
PreludeRacoer023: Did you go to Sunday funday at Bithlo a week ago? I saw two other Ludes there (all motor) and they were running 14.8 and 15.1.

nah, last time i went to Bithlo was the Sunday Funday before that, you cant miss my car, silver 4th gen Black JDMs...i run 13.7 @ 102 all motor, bolt ons and stock internals and drivetrain..peace
