Default SJ - Autocross (3/9/03)

South Jersey (SJ) is starting their autocross season this upcoming Sunday (3/9/03). It will be held in the same lot as where the Philly Winter Series events are held - Campbell's field parking lot, at the end of Cooper Street on the waterfront in Camden, NJ.

Subaru is sponsoring the event and awarding prize money to the top 5 finishers in PAX no matter what you drive. I think the breakdown is $150, 100, 75, 50 & 25.

Also, as a complete NERD and SJR events coordinator, I'm hosting a Racing Simulation Day this Sat. 3/8/03. Out of town guests wanting to autocross in Camden the next day are welcome to bring a sleeping bag and pull up a piece of carpet. Details: http://www.nerdsracing.com/gran_turismo_3.htm
If you're coming please RSVP, reply to this post or register online... thanks.

Same here, IF the weather holds, I'll make the drive, gotta get used to all the new stuff this season... Otherwise, it's too early in the season to "hang out in rain" when the rain is accompanied by 45 deg.F air temps! In July, that's another story, I'll just pretend I'm Schumacher at Spa, Silverstone, or Sepang in the wet and that'll get me through the day.

I guess we're getting too old Tony I used to not care being in -30 degrees, wind blowing at 50mph and rain/sleet/snow hitting my face wearing just t-shirts. Now I don't like being that way anymore

GACK! Mike is turning 31 in a few weeks - GACK GACK!

I'll still brave the cold elements, but I have always only done so for the NNJR events considering my involvement in running things and all! If it is a "guest" region, I'd have to weigh how much I need to race on a shitty day.

Besides rain itself is no longer an (quaife) issue.

I will be there rain or shine (no snow...won't be able to even leave the parking lot with the Azenis on).

hmmmm...this is very tempting. If the weather will permit Hoosiers I may have to show up. I doubt I can pax DSP on Azenis...

Darn, darn, darn (said like Herman Munster)... the subies are gonna clean up again!

One saving grace, ... don't have to change my crappy street tires.

I 'm personally sick and tired of all Subies and to that fact all all-wheel drive cars. It seems it would be a little more fair to class them seperate SM class so I could maybe have a chance when it rains. Anyhow I'll be there this weekend unless it snows again.

Yeah Mike, It would definitely help if there were a SM-AWD class to give us FWD's a chance. I wish there was a local NASA-X series.

Last year at the last South NJ event there was sand and dirt all over the place. I didn't have a chance. And I think the top 5 in PAX were Scoobies.

I say we revolt!!!

I'll make sure to machine a tire shank in the shop tomorrow.

I'll put it to good use on Sunday.

The NWS in Mt. Holly has lowered the probability of precipitation to 30% for Sunday. Without going into great detail, they have a large forecast area (few hundred square miles, including parts of Maryland and most of Delaware) to cover from their location and most of the system will be to our north, thereby minimizing the chance Camden will see and significant rainfall.

Maybe I can finally try out the car!

i know that the philly region has been PAXing sts and stx pretty hard during the winter series (due to the stock classes inability to run their hoosiers in the cold). does anyone know how south jersey is planning on PAXing the classes?

I'm fairly certain that SJ is going to be using the 2003 PAX figures.

As much as I want to go, I may not be able to since my subframe started to tear. Not sure if I'm going to chance it and race then get it fixed next week, or just take the bar off in preparation for getting if fixed.

I'd offer you my car if I was going... My shoulder is still too weak to race so I'm going to miss this event as well.

A little snow football about 2.5-3 weeks ago. Dove for a pass and landed where there was no snow... on my shoulder.... collar bone snapped like a twig. Its set now, but I don't full mobility yet and its still pretty weak... Hopefully in another 2 weeks I'll be in good shape.
