Default Charlotte Autocross

I live in Charlotte NC and i've never been to or attended an autocross event but i really want to. Ive been searching around and found some events that are gonna be held at the Knights Stadium in SC. I was wondering about these events: Has anyone been? is anyone gonna be going this season? and Are there other autocross events going on in my area that i should know about?

I have done an auto-x at Knights Stadium once (24 hour auto-x) and I thought it was fun (not much of an auto-xer though). They usually have them at Eastland Mall, the parking lot across from the old Colliseum and there are some in W-S/GSO area. I would think you'd have a good time in the Teg - go for it. Also, keep your eye out for the Solo II at Kershaw (Carolina Motorsports Park) - don't know the auto-x course but it is part of a road course so you'll be able to tell your friends you raced on a race track

Have fun!

Can't make it this weekend due to a busted radiator. I should be making the next one though.

You'll want to check out http://www.ccrsolo2.org for more information!

Speak for yourself. I've done both (though not many track events). Autocross and track are different, both have unique challenges.

Do I want to do more track events? Yes, But at the same time, I still enjoy autocrossing. On the whole, it's much more difficult to autocross quickly than it is to lap a track quickly (notice I say lapping, I'm not talking about road racing where passing is involved), and the stakes are much lower at an autocross.

A good autocrosser will probably be very fast on a road course, but a good track driver does not necessarily make a good autocrosser.

Mission accomplished. Won STS by 2 seconds, fastest car on street tires (including STX). They don't do top 10 pax, so I have no idea where I finished there. The local STS crowd invited me to not come back anymore.

Smokin rubber had a BLISTERING 36.something run to take FT Prepared. Nice one Karl...

Way to go Matt! I hear a guy in a stock silver Celica GTS is going to try and school you at the THSCC event, you better bring your A game...
