head unit shopping-nakamichi 45z or alpine 7894.. opinions welcome

I really like the simplicity and clean looks of the nakamichi 45z. But on the other hand the 7894 is in the same price range. (around $270 new for either deck) Anyone have experience with either one.... Or opinions on one over the other.

I had a Nak cd player in my cars for a long time, it still works well. Only trouble was it was hard to read display in sunlight. That 45z is probably kick ***, but I don't think it plays MP3s like the Alpine.
