suspension suggestions
anyone know a great setup for a 99 gsr? i want a full shock/spring setup with smooth ride quality NO COILOVERS, except i heard the koni shock/coilover kit was good. any suggestions?
I got the Eibach Pro-Kit and i love them... the ride comfort basically stayed the same to... Check out my webpage http://www.daveh81.homestead.com/honda.html I am going to update it in a couple minutes so check back.

I love my ground control/tokiko illumina suspension setup. It's not bouncy/bumpy/harsh at all. I've heard that the eibach prokits and the kyb agx setup is really good.
i'll have to say hell frikin no to itr suspension, i need good ****- 450hp+ and 150mph+ requires more than that. money is no option
I was just making an offer

Why don't you want coilovers?? IMO springs cost about 200 new and shocks/struts about 400+ new thats about 600. You can get Tein SS for about 900 or so. it allows damper and height adjustability. Also if you want different spring rates for like Auto-Xing you can get them and just change the dampering. Save a little more and get it done right the first time.
Because low end Teins are junk?
Koni Yellows with Ground Control. Better spring rates than the SSs have and better valving options too. All for LESS money.
Teins aren't much more than JDM bling, especially the low end ones. Ask the people in the Road Race/Auto-X section.

speaking of suspention set ups im running H & R sports with kyb agx's Now if your car is 450 + hp and well goes 150 mph, I hope you know how to drive or more how to stop. Maybe brake pads and discs are a good idea. But enough flaming.
Ive been looking at going to Ground controls @ 550fand 650r w/ koni's with 24mm r front bar and 22mm r rear bar. Im not sure on the rates yet....

The most common auto-X/street setups are the 400/500 spring rates with stock GSR/ITR front bar (24mm) and a ITR or bigger rear (22mm stock, 23 are available). Some go higher or lower, depending on what they prefer (see also: can tolerate) ride qulity wise. However, it's in debate how high a rate the Konis can take. Most say 500 w/out revalving, so that's usually the highest rate on the car. You can revalve the Konis and they'll take any rate you want, but that's another 400+ dollars.....
Anyway, get a rear biased rate and you'll be happy with the handling. I went from a front biased setup to rear and the rear is remarkably better (same swaybars). "JDM" style is to have higher front rates for some reason, and therefore most coilovers come like that (as do GCs unless you ask for different spring rates). There's a thread regarding all that in the FAQ for Road Race/Auto-X section.

Nacho, Thanks alot. You explained it better than any thread ive seen. Even doing a search it all seems like preference. So revalving koni's is 400.00???? really damn..
Anyone else?
Im looking at 550f and 650r. for street car.

The cost of a Koni Revalve changes depending on who oyu know, what you want done, etc. Call Koni and tell them what you have in mind for spring rates and the like, ask them if they think you can get away w/out a revalve, if not (and you don't have shocks yet), if you can get some valved specifically for you and/or how much to get a 'stock' set revalved.
If you need to revalve the Konis, you might want to start searching for blown Konis, since they'll be cheaper and you're going to spend the cash to re-valve them, so there's no reason to buy good shocks, tehn tear 'em down and rebuild 'em.
Either way, step 1 is to call Koni.
