ok i have my smog check coming up and im just wondering what i should know since i ran my car for about 20k miles w/ the jdm cluster, i already put my stock cluster back in but anyone have any problems with the excess mileage??? also im running a DC 4-2-1 header, AEM CAI and Invidia exhaust, what do i need to take off to pass the visual test and/or the emissions test.....thx

You will pass visual as long as you have the CARB numbers on the product itself or somewhere under the hood. You might wanna install the USDM cluster cause if they are punks, they could report you to the DMV and you could be fined big time for modifying the mileage on your cluster.

yeah this is some bump but.......ive only been in CA for a few months now and havent had to worry about registration/smog yet......

why does it matter how many miles your cluster says as long as you arent putting the car up for sale with false mileage????
doesnt make sense......

 

For california, there is a truth in mileage act or something of the sort. when you sell your car, there is a section where you have to check (mark an X) and state the correct mileage your car. This law applies to cars that are 10 years or newer. Search http://www.dmv.ca.gov for the exact law.

This law is to prevent people from selling a high mileage car under the false pretense of being a lower mileage car.

For your case, if the mileage you have now is higher then your last reading, it should be pretty undectable since you basically swapped clusters. But if you ever sell your car, well...

To pass visual, make sure you have carb e.o.numbers for emission devices as stated above. That is, intake and header. Exhaust isn't an emission device.

yes, they record mileage at smog checks and title transers

Yes, you should put the stock cluster in.
I believe if you tell them the actual mileage then there isn't a problem.
Your header and intake are legal so just be sure to point out the CARB numbers if they question them.
