Default Carbon fiber hood

This board is split about carbon fiber hoods, some say it just fashion, others say its also function. I always thought carbon fiber channels heat better then metal because of the fibers, so wouldnt that help cool down your engine bay as well as look good and lighter then a stock hood?

I would say so due to carbon fiber not being made of metal. So technically...it's lighter (5-10lbs i believe) and would allow heat to disperse a lot quicker.

It is only function if you take your car to the track and race it. Otherwise it's just for show.

fiberglass hoods and carbon fiber hoods are weigh less than metal hoods. I think fiberglass hoods started out as a cheap hood replacement while adding a cowl space to possible added engine parts on old muscle cars. If you got a half and half, half carbonfiber with bottom fiberglass skeleton hood than I'd say you bought it for looks.

Ive got my milano gsr and cf hood --- and i it. Never goin back.
If youre doing it strictly for performance, the gains are not worth it obviously. I love how it looks, I bought it. Simple as that.
