which ones are you talking about, like jl w0's or w6's, and what series memphis, and by what amp, make yourself your-self clear!!

Depends on the speaker and more importantly the box.

 

well id compare it to the top of the line... and money not beign a factor.. i say the JL w7.. speaking running the same AMP ..... not being a variable, ive sat in a truck that had l ike....7 or 9 i forget jl w7.. it was nothing but air in the truck... sound was beyond the inside of the truck...id say trust JL also and the equivilant supposable to 1 12w7 is 3 10'' w6 give or take

Its the box enough said. Basically you've fallen for marketing if you believe speaker a is better than b or enough so that you can hear the difference

The way i understood that was that every speaker is the same and its' the box that determines the sound of it. If that was the case then why is so much research put into the speakers. A good example is the B&W kevlar drivers with the fixed suspension technology. Dont get me wrong, they have more than enough technology put into the enclosure design too, but it doesnt stop there.

 

Yes, speakers are vastly different, but the quality/design of the box will make or break a speaker.

 

tru that- ive been reading some of tha treads in the car audio section... tha dumb ques some of these peeps ask.. it just gives me a head ach.. how can u have such lil clue about what is goin on- If u want to learn more-- DO reasearch.. Try the sounddomain.com forum boards - or pic up a mag that had articles on tha woofers u inquiore about.

I have heard BOTH the top of the line MEMPHIS & JL ~ I wasnt that impressed w/ either...

Its all on u what u wanna spend what your goin for...

 

Memphis's top of the line subs are geared toward's SPL so if you want something strictly loud and are willing to spend the money on the power they need then they will probably out pound any JL given they are in a properly designed box. NOTICE I said SPL. The JL's are probably a better all around speaker(W7's) and you would probably be happier with them. I totally agree with the notion that a properly designed box is a huge key. We have had people come into our shops that just bought some $300 subs from somewhere else and leave our store wanting to buy our $115 subs cause they blew what they had in their car away since they were in a proper enclosure. Oh and just so everyone that reads this knows. 98% of all pre-fab boxes SUCK!!!!!
