Default Broken exhaust=any harm taking resonator off?

i shifted into second gear on saturday night and the pipe broke right in front of the resonator....so all i have is the cat and some pipe left....is this going to hurt anything driving like this for a while? can i take the resonator off and just put some pipe instead? what does the resonator actually do?

TIA

ps: it really hauls *** now and sounds like a car off a video game when vtec engages....WOW!

Just get a piece of pipe welded on its place. it will be a little louder.

exact same thing happened on my 94 RS. I decided to just drop the cash on a new catback instead of messing around with the stock exhaust....if the resonator rusted out, most likely there are other weak places in your piping that will go before too long.

I'd suggest just replace the whole catback

if your running on just the cat with a little bit of the B pipe left and no muffler connected, i'd suggest you not "mash" until you get it replaced....

if you mash, you're going to dump a whole lot of extra unburnt fuel into the cat and it'll burn out really quick...It might be because there's a lot less backpressure with it off...

don't ask me how i know , i just know! haha late

PS: stock cat's cost a grip...

i broke my blitz exhaust like that by hitting it with the shifter. I put a piece of pipe in its place and could barely tell the difference in sound. My exhuast was loud as hell to begin with, but i noticed more noise when i installed my header than i did when i put the pipe in. It cost me 70$ which is better than 650 for a new one.
