Default My car has a gremlin WTF??

Ok my 89 si has stock the stock motor in it but the other day it started to do something scary. When you shut the car off with your foot still on the brake the car continues to run.??

When you put your foot on the brake when its not running, all the acc. lights like battery, oil and seatbelt go on dash... Thats not it, also when you have the car running the taillights go on automatically! Its an electical prob. somewhere but anyone know where to check first? I know someone had a prob. like this not long ago so please help. The car runs perfect still though. Thanks

I had this exact problem, but not on a Honda. It was a Toyota hatch.

It drove me crazy for 2 days straight!

It turns out the rear window defroster wire melted into the brake light wire, up in the headliner no less, just ahead of the flexible connection for the hatch.

Stepping on the brake (Brake lights have power at all times) back fed power up to the dash.

Been using your rear window defroster a lot lately???????

Ahhhh, from Conn. I just noticed.....

Trace your 3rd Brake Light Wire (High Mount) from the bulbs up towards the front of the car.

(Opening up all the loom along the way)

I can't guarantee it, but I'll bet $5.00!

My third brake light doesn't work but my tech thinks the ignition may be backfeeding the power though b/c there is a lot of play in the ign. Its the part that goes from the back of the ign. to the fusebox. thats what im trying first. No i haven't really been using my defroster really alot. But that has me thinking. thanx

My friend with a 89 hatch si had the exact same problem. Check the wiring for the 3rd brake light.
