Autolock saved my car from thieves - what else can I do?
A "pro" tried to steal my car. I think the autolock changed his mind. I have an alarm, backup, club and autolock. He must have figure he can beat the alarm, cut the club, and take the car. When he saw the autolock, he must have changed his mind.
My car was slightly damaged, and I won't go into details on what he did (before he noticed the autolock). I tired to "fixed" up what I can, but there are a few permanent damage that "can't" be fixed. I have lost emblems, the scratch marks, and I lived with it in the past. So I know they looked over it. I can't park my car else where, except be prepare for the next attack.
This is war!!!!!!! It's not if, it's when. Next time they may just bring in the entire tool box to do the job.
I have some ideas to set traps that would harm them (yes.. you read right) if they try to take it, but that's a bit crazy, and they can turn around a sue me for harming them while they take my car.
So my question is, what else can I do? What other devise can I bolt on, or chain up? I already look like a nut with the club, autolock, and alarm. I'm ready to go all out.
I don't care if I look like I lost it, but they are NOT taking my car!
P.S. GET THE AUTOLOCK. It works as a deterrent.
BTW: I actually got the off brand call "T-Rex Lock"
Note to Mods: I'll move this post to proper section later, I'm look for some ideas here for now. Thanks.
A friend of mine is making a custom thief imobalizer for my car. Here is the idea behind it. Basically when he touches a key part of the car, like the shift ****, (a must touch area for any theif to steal a car) it will send an electic shock through his/her body and will make them unconsiouse for several minutes. When he/she wakes up, they can feel free to leave or try again and then get zapped again. My friend has been working on it for several months now and is confident that it will be done in 3-4 more months. It will have a button disarm, just like a normal alarm.
I have not checked into the legality of this alarm, but I am not interesed in that part. This system will not cause any perminant damage to any humans. This way they can just walk away when they wake up. If I should arrive at my car with the person knocked out inside my car, I simply drap the person out and leave him/her on the sidewalk or side of street, wherever. I will not alert police, just extract body and leave. I am sure the bad guy/girl will not have a problem with that either, once they wake up. This is how I hope to avoid any legal entanglement.

Sounds nice, except theives wear gloves as to not leave prints - so your system designed to zap someone with human touch isnt going to work.
What about a "locking wrap" around the steering colum? I will find the right material where it's difficult/almost impossible to cut.
What do you think? Any weaknesses there?
Again, the idea is "deterrent."

Just put a post-it not saying caution high voltage
That way you have covered your *** (you have provided a warning) and secondly they voluntairily entered upon your property. You should sue them for causing your car to release the voltage.
All i know is that theives have the law on there side. Someone enters my house without permission, they trip and fall, or hurt themselves...they can sue me

yes the thief, who broke into his car. can sue him.
and win.
Fuel cutoff switchs are the way to go. They work great, make sure its in a hidden place though, wont do much good to deter the professional if its not hidden well.
. A really **** friend of mine used to have 2 switches in his Camaro, one under the dash, and another behind a "knock out" panel. They were wired in paralell so both switches would have to be on for the car to start.

Knowledge of these devices is important when combating theft. One must think like a thief in order to defeat them.

That would mean they are wired in series.
to me

Yeah, next time they'll bring the towtruck.
I think I should start taking personal stuff out of the car. Garage door opener, ATM/CC receipts, etc. They could do a lot of damage before I even notice and run home.
And start looking in the newspaper for a deal on the 03 Chevy Cavalier.
http://www.tirelock.com/product.php?cid=1 Put 4 of these on your car and sleep easy at night
just like they said b4, i thought of putting some sort of harmful device in my car, but my neighbor was a cop, and he told me a story jsut liek u guys said about a robber in a house and he was injured and sued the owner, ahh only in america can u commit a crime, steal stuff and then sue on top of that!! you might think of taking out a good fuse from the fuse box, and replacing it w/ a bad one when u leave the car. pretty simple, takes ya 5 seconds ya never know, the more problems the thief has towards starting the car, the more chance he will leave rather then risk being caught. you never know, i would think the car not starting would be something w/ the alarm, maybe a starter kill or somethin(thinking as a thief), i doubt theyd look for the fuse box first and if they did, it would look good if it was full even w/ the bad fuse. his extra 5 mins of thinking could turn into he decision to leave, just my .02
