Like the topic says, i freaking hate kyokugen!!! I ordered some black chrome spline drive lugs from summitracing. Just a smidge over $80 shipped.
I think cheap piece of junk kyokugen key is starting to warp!!! I've only taken the wheels off twice!! What the hell??
If anyone in the houston area has a kyokugen key i might be able to borrow for a few minutes, please help me out. I'm stressed out that the key is gonna completely strip away before i get the crappy lugs off.
What if i stuff some newspaper or cardboard into the key to give it a little more contact with the lugnut? i might try that.
Any tips/advice about how to get the rest of them off without completely busting the key?? Thanks a lot.

kyokugen lugs are not that bad. I have a set so do 5 other peeps I know and never had a problem. I change wheels more often then anyone (about once every week ) longest you use torque wrench I don't think a problem will occur.
are you jerking at the lugs? you are suppose to apply pressure slowly not JUMP on them, the lugs are fairly soft, and the wrench is a little larger than i THINK it should, there is room for movement from the wrench and the lugs....but oh well, they saved my wheels once from thieves...then i bought 2 sets of mcgards locks, so each wheel had 2 mcgards and 2 kyokugens...hehe mcgards =

Kyokugen lugs are fine,if your having a problem then most likely you are not putting them on & taking them off properly. Put them on slow with a torque wrench(80 lbs.). DO NOT USE AN AIRGUN or "BOUNCE" THEM OFF.
Two years with kyogens and three different cars, tires rotated very often. No problems yet, always torqued to 80 ft/lbs.

maybe some electrical tape around the lugs will give a little more grip on the key.... i'll give that a try...
you want a kyokugen horror story... i had mine on for a few months without any problems, with skunk extended studs, then i took my car into a shop to have a wheel beariing changed on my driver side front... 2 days later i was driving on a back road up here in massachusetts at like 11pm and i felt a really bad wobble, i thought i had a flat.... so i got out on the side of the road pissed the **** off that i was going to aave tobuy a new tire and in the meantime change this one in the middle of the night.... my tire wasnt flat, so i really looked hard at what the problem could be but didnt see anything. i got back in my car and started to drive home thinking that something was weird w/ the wheel balance for some reason... i had no idea and i just wanted to get home asap which was 3 miles away
. so im driving at about 30 mph with my hassards on and my brakes completely go out. i had to pull the ebrake. so i get out to find that 2 of my wheel studs had broken off and the other 2 where loose and stripped out from the hub.
the shop didnt follow my directions on how to properly tighten the lug nuts and they had come loose, which put play in the studs and one by one they snapped off. i could have lost my wheel at 60mph on a 2lane road that winds through the woods, i was freaked out. moral of the story **** kyokugen, there are alot better lugs you can get for less $ and you dont have to worry about how some shop installs them or whatever. im done ranting. buy at your own risk, and it is a risk.

i dont give a **** who is to blame, i could have totalled my car not to mention have been killed over it. yes they are fine if you can control them all the time, but imho i do not want to be thinking about whether or not my lugs are going to come loose on me, b/c some "dumbass" tightened them wrong. its not worth it, just buy better lugs that can be tightened with airtools, theres no way a shop trying to pay the bills is gonna sit there and tighten your lugs by hand... they are an accident witing to happen.
