i got 2 kickers, i was gonna get a big ported box and put the 2 in them but im thinking of getting 2 smaller boxes so i can position them to sound better, i drive a hatch and i figured i could twist and turn them to my liking, boxes will be built by a proffesional...
kicker impulse if youre wondering

there is a huge difference between ported and sealed boxes. When you decide which one you want let us know.

go with one ported one sealed, thats what I would do if I was using two subs but I choose Quality over Quantity.
Sealed or ported. Choose one or the other...

If you want it to bump hard then you want a ported box tuned somewhere around 40-45hz. What kind of car is this going in?

well, they are in a swift gti hatch back,. i have them in a custom parcel shelf facing upwards and i like how they sound there, but someone on tempro told me the subs suspension was made for a sealed box, not ported, im confused, im gonna try and get both and switch them amd see what happens
thanks

stick with one box... Sealed.. be sure each speaker is sealed from each other.. ALSO be sure you are properly powering them via their RMS wattage..
As a BASS PLAYER For many many years... a car audio guy for plenty of years.. and just simple physics.....
Bass (low frequency) is omnidirectional... so the direction they are facing isn't that important.. be SURE they have airspace to compress infront of them.. the other advantage of ONE sealed box, is keeping the subs from interfearing with each other.. to have that low of a frequency heading towards each other as if you were to have 2 boxes and have each sub face the other is in all reality going to create a muddiness to the sound more then anything...
Plenty of boxes built, systems installed.. and experiments done... this is all true.
