b16a mounts....again
So Im about to purchase my b16 and Im not sure what to do about the mounts.. The guy at the shop says that I should just cut my stock mounts to make the B16 fit. and others tell me that I should get a bolt in kit... of course I want the best for my rex but funds are indeed limited. any suggestions oh and what about shift linkage Im having a hard time getting info on that...

The best way to go is with a mount kit. HASport makes a good one and they have lots of info on their site http://www.hasport.com Should have something about shift linkages there.
Place Racing mounts are good too. I am using those and have no complaints.

Agreed - HASport makes the best kit, and their shifter is custom-fit so you don't have to worry about it. Sounds like a good deal to me, considering that a new shift linkage from honda/acura will cost you about $150, and then however much more to modify it to fit (shop time costs a lot). Good luck finding one used, too
. Anyway, HTH a bit!

I would consider looking for a different shop if this guy is recommending hacking up your existing mounts. I think HASport's reputation is very good, and their kit is a good idea. Limited funds are always an issue, but if you can't do it right, save a little longer...it'll be worth it. Check out this link about a horror story from a guy that had chopped up mounts for his b16 swap. http://hybrid.honda-perf.org/tech/eb_b16a.html - The "last update" contains the details on his mounts. Kinda long, but good reading. It was ultimately fixed by Place Racing, mentioned in b16crx's post I think. - Good Luck!
