Well i finally got the tool that allows you to remove the timing belt, a harmonic damper pulley puller but i was wondering which way to twist it to get it loose? car is a 97 civic dx.

or does anyone know a link or anything info for changing timing belt? torque lbs/ft? etc..?

ok thanks man, we busted 2 bits last night trying to loosen it.\

which part do you twist lefty to loosen both? the inner bolt and the outer part the pulley puller holds onto?

make sure you tighen the crank pulley bolt back down to what they say to...one of my friends thought he could leave it a little loose and lost his crank pulley driving down the highway!

as tight as you can get. I believe it's around 150 ft pounds, but reef on it till it's solid.

Use an impact gun and it's not a problem.

My father invested in a portable 4 gallon air compressor and an impact gun specifically for the crank pulley on his Saab 9000 Turbo. I have my own impact gun from having been an apprentice auto mechanic last year.

Once you get air tools, you never go back.

Once you've used a lift to do oil changes, You're gonna wish you had one in your garage... Even though you can do your timing belt without a lift, it's so much easier to do it with one.
