'87 crx si idle issues
Picked up a 1987 CRX Si today. The idle at start is high 2-2.2k but seems to settle 975 -1k ok. Sometimes after warm, it surges intermittently 1k - 1.5k and it raced to 3.5k+ when A/C was switched on. I read a number of the posts on idle problems and have not touched anything on the car yet. I wanted to hear if the A/C issue narrowed down the diagnosis before I start in on it.
Thanks for any information.

Bleed the coolant system you might have air in there. If not there's the coolant temp sensor. Maybe even the throttle body needs to be adjusted. The A/C would cause something like that because there's about three times the load on the crank when it's turned on. Might be wrong, but one of those could be it. Hard to say with-out being there.
Thanks - I did run a search with just the word "idle" in it and read a large number of the responses. There were only 4 responses in the CRX forum. Even in the general search, none seemed to address the additional issue of the "idle compensation for the A/C" bumping the idle up to this extreme.
I saw enough people get blasted for dropping "standard", "already addressed" questions that I knew better than to post the question without running a search and reading the other posts on the topic.

Thanks Zero_son, Today the idle seemed to creep up when it was parked and then started oscillating, surging. It seemed to correspond with the temperature running up on the gage. When I shut it down yesterday I heard gurgling from the coolant. So since the air entrapment can affect the idle(it was mentioned in a number of other posts too), Bleeding the coolant is probably the easiest, cheapest first diagnostic step.
I appreciate the help.
