Default retrofitting homelink?

are there any parts required besides the overhead console, and how much does that usually run for?

(plus, is there any additional wiring needed if you've already got the dome lights there, like on any 6th gen)

I think the Homelink is self contained in the visor and requires no wiring. I check my Gen6 service manuals tommorow, but from what I've seen so far I think you would only need the Gen6 visor. I think the unit is like a genie remote and has a battering inside. If not, it shouldn't be hard to run a small line; it can't be much bigger then thermostat wire.

from hondaautomotive.com, the price for overhead light assembly is $244.81
yeah.. expensive... and i dun think honda sells homlink separately...
my best bet is to go to junkyard and look for 6th gen accord ex V6 or CL or TL w/ homelink.. good luck!!

and btw, anyone did this before?

itz a little button that does the garage opener work.. installed in your car.
6th gen V6 accord or acura car better then TSX, and most of any high end cars have 'em... and most of those come's w/ 3 buttons...

its a self contained unit, and it's 100% plug and play for the 6th gen accord. all it needs is a 12v source that is hot when the car is off

i think only thing need is power source.. and i don't think it even has to be hot..
my friend's CL-S doesn't work when not started.. neither my parents MB's homelink...

i really just recomend gettin retrofitting to sun visor from homelink company it self... you probably seen it on fords...

i just use a double side tape and stick my remote in the 6th gen
sun glasses trap. or just get a mini-keychain size remote

Sorry about digging up an old thread, but I just retrofitted my '00 LX with an ebay purchased '99 EX overhead console so I could get Homelink. It is plug and play, but the EX console has a couple bosses at the rear screw attachment points that cause the console to sit about 1/8" lower at the rear than my LX headliner. Not really that noticeable, but you can remove the part from each console and switch them (a little grinding away of melted attachment points and some super glue to attach) and it would fit like stock. I think the EX headliner is a little thicker due to the sunroof (just a guess though). Only $50 from ebay, and now my garage remote is not banging around in the open console under the stereo!
