transmission

I went to look at an 88 LX 5spd today and it is clean and runs well but it is hard to put the car in and out of gear and there is some tranny whine. Is the tranny shot? Given that the car is in excellent shape otherwise do you think that it is worth $2100

2100 is too much IMO, the transmission is either low on oil or/and the bearings are going, it could be easily replaced for dirt cheap.

thats way too much for an 88 sedan that may need a tranny. Look around some more or talk them down about 800 dollars.

mines doing the same thing...but goes into gear fine...just the bearings going bad...pulling it out replacing the bearings and possibly synchros while Im their but I bought the car in pretty good condition for 1k 2100 is very high
