Went to dragstrip last night. What do you guys think??
Well my car's best time was 16.279, thats with full interior, toolbox, droplight, and no tach. What do you guys think? I was hoping for 15teens, but whatever. Let me now what you think. Comments??
for having a B18A1.. i say u gotta do better than that......
i know u have full interior and stuff...... but u could at least have done a 15.9////
IMO get a tach, go back , launch around 3500 rpms., get rid o f all the crap inside the car and tell us if u can break into 15's./ if not then it sb c u dont know how to drive

Well yeah, my dad was driving and he's 50, but he knows how to drive pretty darn good. He just isnt use to driving front wheel drive(jap cars as he calls them), he use to race corvettes. It was his first time at the strip in my car soo. But thanks a lot for commenting. Gotta go get a tach at a junkyard and take the crap out, then i'll let you know how it goes. thanks
yeah i'd say don't worry about it. IF its your first time ever, i'd say its just lik riding a bike. Hows it feel to be as fast as a sohc
Well the numbers aren't that amazing for B series swap. I bet if you go nextime prep your car a lil i.e. tire pressure, take out the junk from the trunk, rpm launch, rpm shift point, and practice. You should be able to hit 15's with ease or even better.

Thanks man. I know it wasn't that great, but we'll try harder next time. My dads learning how to launch better, so I expect 15 teens next time. Thanks.
Leave the kid alone. It isn't HIS fault, I say you tell your pops to take a seat and drive your own car.
And definitely do what everyone else said.

Thanks for all of the good comments(and the bad ones) im still 15, and my dad knows how to drive better than I do, but next time i'm gonna make a run or two. I'll let you guys know what happens. Yeah it is slow, what should kinda times should it run???
Thanks I do need a tach, and it was the first time at a dragstrip. Needa work on the reaction times. How do you guys launch(rpms? and do you just dump it?)thanks
Tell gramps get out the seat and let you drive..fwd is diff game..trust me i know..i went from 300whp camaro to fwd 100hp and it seems harder to launch the fwd crx..Im sure when you get used to it you have a potental for low 15's...btw most crx's with d16's run 15's....just work on the 60 ft time, take the crap out the car,and get a tach and you will be doing good..
i ran a 15.305@88mph in my d16a6(crxSI motor) crxHF
you should be running ALOT better i just put a b18a1 in my HF and it feels a shitload faster i'm hoping for low 14's

dont worry about the negativity in here some people just hink they are better than others.if you can improve the 60ft times a little you will be fine.also i dont see your b18a taking you into the 14's but that is strictly my opinion
Yea, youre running a 2.5 second 60 foot times. Now if you can improve that (which may be hard on street tires) then you will shave alot of tenths off that time.
Plus, launching is different on every car. Most likely, you are running street tires so you might wanna feather the clutch to avoid spinning the tires too much. The perfect launch in your car takes practice and practice.
Is there anyway you can get to a back country road where noone is and practice launching?

your username says it all!
ya takes some time to learn how to correctly launch a FWD car.. with that 60ft time you can really tell he is just ******* it at the start. The trap speed is also slow meaning he probably is shifting way to early.
Honestly it should be an easy high 14 sec car if not better.
But since your 15 you are still young and have plenty of time to learn.. tell pops that Even the longer stroke of the B18a/b likes a bit more RPMS than his old vette.. lol

Thanks for the replys, I think one of the main reason was that he had no tach, he shifted a lil early on the first run, but took it to rev limited on the last two. The motor also has like 130,000 miles on it so. Next time we'll hit 15's, b/c we are gonna get there early so we can make more than 3 runs, that just wasn't enough time to get use to it. Thanks alot
he's probably not used to taking a car past 7,500 rpm. practice and patience is the key. godluck next time at the track
Yeah thanks, and Ron, if you where in a car that had been taken care of you could have easily gotten fast times, Matt just abuses that car to much.
well i ran 16.9s with my zc the first time at the track. Then the next time i ran 15.8s, the 16.9 was with the dx tranny and the 15.8 was si. But I coulda got a mid to low 15. I have seen a ls sedan hit a 14.8 with intake and exhaust.
