The lights for the different vent outlet positions don't light up anymore and air only comes out of the defrost vents. The blower fan speed selector switch works fine as does the temperature control slider. Any idea what might cause the vent outlet selector switches to not light up and work?

 

You check the fuses ? Maybe blown bulb ?

 

What kind of a car? A CRX? If so I am not sure about the lights (might be related) but the vents are electronically controlled and the controller is mounted on the heater core box that may be bad or unplugged. Its like a rectangular box (gray I believe) mounted on the side with basically an arm sticking out to change the vents and has a harness going into it. Hope this helps!!

I checked all the fuses, and it would be strange for all the lights to go out at the same time. I'll try looking for the controller box next. And yes, it is an '88 CRX Thanks.
