Default CRX headroom problems

I found a very nice '91 crx that I am considering buying for some solo II, driving schools and some open track events, the only thing holding me back is the lack of headroom. I am 6"2' (or is it 6'2"?) and while test driving had less than an inch between my melon and the roof. I don't know how I would fit in there with a helmet on.

Does anyone have any solutions to the crx's lack of headroom? Has anyone found shorter brackets or rails? I have heard del sol seats are shorter, anyone tried those in a crx? What about removing seat material like some miata drivers?

What you can do to the seat will depend on what class you're running for solo II. I don't think you'll have much luck using lower brackets for the OEM seat. I had to pull the headliner/sunroof to get the room I wanted.

If your concerened about headroom, dont get an Si. The DX and HF have just a plain roof with more headroom.

I have the same problem (although I'm only 5' 10") when I wear a helmet during auto-x...I either have to tilt the seat back or have a crooked head....this removing seat material like miata drivers is interesting....do they just yank some foam from the bottom or what??
