there is a new noise when i am driveing there is a thump thump thump when i let the gas off but as i hit the gas it goes away and when i shift there is a thump thump does anyone know what this is?

oh yeah it is an s1 tranny

 

First take a look at your motor mounts. Inspect all 4 carefully. If the motor mounts look good, then my next guess would be that something is going on with your clutch - perhaps some of the pressure plate bolts have come loose...
