91 accord overheating and starting problem
91 Accord Ex Sedan Auto. When i drive the car for any amount of time(5 mins- 30mins) and i turn the ignition off, and try to start the car again, i have trouble starting. It trys to turn over but can't completely start. But, if i wait or even try again right after, the car starts. What could cause this? also just the past few days the car has been overheating. the needle slow rises up but when i drive it goes down again. it just recently started doing this. any help is appreciated thanks!

For the starting problem, the not being able to start again after shutting down is symptomatic of a main relay problem. BUT, when mine does it (and from what I've read here, correct me if I'm wrong someone) the engine doesn't even try to turn over. If you turn your key to the on position, normally you could probably hear the fuel pump, but if the main relay is freaking out the fuel pump won't go. It's like, you should turn the key and nothing happens at all if the main relay is having problems. Maybe some other people have seen these halfway symptoms with the main relay, I don't know.
Is it turning over nice and consistent? Then check for spark and fuel. If it's like hesitating turning over, check the starter, battery, etc.
For the heating problem, check if the fans are coming on. Idle it in the driveway, watch the temp gauge til it gets halfway and check if the fans come on. If it keeps climbing and the fans stay off, check the fan fuse, fan controller circuit (search for it, some have gone bad), etc. If the fans come on, check the thermostat. Maybe it's sticking closed. Also naturally check for coolant leaks.
Edit: Just remembered, check the upper radiator hose when the temperature is halfway up. If it's not hot, then likely you have a closed thermostat or a blockage in the coolant system somewhere.

For your starting problem...
It's the fuel relay. Hondas are notorious for this... Replace it and you should be fine (happened to me).
As far as the heating problem... Hmmm....
-check to see if the radiator fan is working properly (bad relay?) OR
-a "sticking" thermostat OR
-there's some kind of blockage within your cooling system (have you flushed out your radiator, as of late?).
Like that one reply states- when the temp needle goes up half-way, check the upper radiator hose. If it's not hot to the touch, there's blockage in your cooling system... This is an old rodder's trick...
Hope this helps... Good luck....
