Default Harness with 92-95 Civic Seats

I want to install a racing harness in my 93 Civic EX. It has the seats where the headrest support is only on one side. Is this ok to use with the harness? Or do I need another seat with headrest supports in the middle? I'm only using the harness for autox once a month.

I am wondering the same thing...93 Civic...autocross One of the schroth 3pt harnesses might work, since it mounts to the REAR shoulder-belt mount.

You cannot use a 4/5 pt harness with a stock 92-95 Civic seat.

You need a seat with headrests supports in the middle.

Yea, I wouldnt recommend a harness belt (even the Schroth) with those seats and their funky headrest. For autocross, get a seat with shoulder harness slots or something, and you'd be good to go.

Thats what I figured. Have any recommendations on OEM Honda seats that will work and be comfortable? I don't really want to spend $500+ on some seats to only use once a month. I'd like to just watch the classifieds and pick up a pair fairly cheap. I'm thinking like Prelude seats. Would del Sol seats work? Do they have an adjustable headrest or is it fixed?

Del Sol, Prelude, Integra, etc. seats would all work fine.

i use the schroth 3 point harness on my car. same one as you, 93 ex. i did not mount the third point to the stock seatbelt location. instead i ran it to my rear tie bar. that keeps the should portions mostly centered, or at least not pulled to the side. it also gives a relatively shallow angle so i don't have problems with spinal compression. i use this setup for autocross and track schools. the club i run with at the track is pretty stringent on safety and they had no problems whatsoever with the mounting setup, but i can't gaurantee that is the case with all clubs.

I've seen belts mounted on that seat also, I just usually don't recommend it because their isn't anything to keep the belt from sliding off the side of the seat where there is no headrest upright.

i honestly haven't had any issues with the belt sliding off once you're buckled in and sinched down. the joint were the two shoulder harnesses join into one is close enough to your torso that everything is kept in line. maybe it isn't ideal, but it will work without having to waste money on a different seat and possibly get bumped to a different class.

Yea, the harness will work with the Civic seats, especially for autocross. Its just not the ideal type of seat to use with a harness...

Hmmm, thats the first I've seen that. I was wondering what options Miata, Boxster, etc owners had for autocross harnesses. I've seen a few Boxster guys wearing belts in ways that I wouldn't recommend. The halo looks interesting, and I'm guessing autocross is about the only thing I'd use it for.

yea, that car looked to be open top with no roll protection. so a harness would be used @ autox ONLY.

The headrest is fixed, but not integrated. The straps can go between the seat and the headrest.
