First Track Day
So I was doing a track day at Phoenix International raceway this weeked. This was my first track day, however I have raced a relatively decent amount of auto x.
Here is the story:
The track time is going well. I was starting to feel pretty comfortable with the track and my car. I'm in my second session probably about 15 minutes into it, pushing the car pretty hard now. Aparantly my car does not like to register on the temp gauge when it is overheating.
The coolent actually started to boil and of course was building up a lot of pressure. The coolent started to spray out of the overflow and of course covering my tires in coolent. I was coming out of the Nascar turn at a little over 90, top of 3rd. Front end lifts a little and squegels a litte; followed by the rear end losing all traction and fliping me into a viloent spin. Ended up about 4 inches from the wall and about 4 other cars who barely made it by!!!
Wooohhh that wakes you up in a second. Now if only the coolent could have been sticky

It always sucks when something like that happens. But, in some ways, it's good - novices who go a long time without an "Oh ****!" moment tend to get cocky. A nice spin wakes them back up (hopefully before they get into a lot of trouble).
Sure as hell glad that didn't happen to me during my first track weekend, which was the same time as yours! Glad to hear you made it through unscathed.
