Default PM6 SI ECU to 89 Teg ECU PG7

k heres the deal...
i got a PM6 running my Z6.. got a code 9+10 .. CYL sensor and IAT
havent yet been able to fix those....i also got code 17 but its bc of broken speedo cable

anyways my buddy its trying to chip my ecu for a few more hundreds rpms redline.... he let me borrow a PG7 off a 89 teg.,...
now the teg ecu trows a code 7, 9, 10 and 17 bc my speedo cable broke....

does the TPS on the 88-89 tegs turns the same way as in the Si's or they are reversed??? is it trowing me a code bc the TPS is wired for the Si and not the LS.????....also my idle was fine yesterday when i drove it afternoon and all night.... now today it was idleing around 1500.... and bouncing sometimes about 200--400 rpms up and down....

i thought when it was swaping this ECU's there was no modifications to be done.... BTW i gotta say that the teg ecu does pull a lot better than the Si one... also the Z6 really likes the 7200 shift and pulls hard and nice....

any input please its very welcome.....

TPS turns the same direction on both all honda motors with the exception of the DX (not sure about i-vtec never seen on up close) Its all plug and play. I'm unsure why you picked up a new code on this one unless there is a problem with the ECU, ECU plugs, harness or the accual sensors. You may want to test from the ECU plug to the sensor and see if the wires are good and no resistance. Also pluging and unpluging ECUs can sometimes stretch the inner prongs in the ECU clips make sure there still crimped small enough to catch the ECU pin. If you want to test you TPS heres the directions from helms http://www.geocities.com/d16z6civic/forsale
need anything else let me know. Good luck

ive run both a PM6 and a PG7 and neither ever threw a code. of course that was with an A6 not a Z6...if that makes a difference. but id have to agree with zCivic, maybe something wrong with the ecu. i know it throws a code if the ecu was from an automatic, but i doubt thats your problem, just thought id mention it.

I have a PG7 on on my Z6 never had a problem. I went from a PM6 straight to the PG7. I orginally had some error codes but it was caused buy the ECU plugs not connecting to the ECU pins correctly. They got stretched out just enough so it would make contact.

It would run rich but the only possable code should be the o2 sensor from too much fuel. I never had that problem, if you have codes you've got other problems either the ECU, sensors, wiring etc..... If its a automatic ECU will give the automatic lock out code but that should be it. Which this would happen with any time you use a a/t ecu on a m/t

Code 1 is o2 Sensor. 20 is ELD (electric load)

TPS turns the same direction on both all honda motors with the exception of the DX :
i know DPFI its backwards....
but then heres something crazy...
when i swaped MPFI i switched TPS wires.... with the PM6.. had a few codes and crnak angle.....my shop told me it was running rich bc i had cables switched.... after swaping back again the engine ran good.... i wonder if this ECU its looking at ii the wrong way and is bc of the cables...
also today i can tell that the RPMS are staying very high 1500.. even after engine tis warm.. sometimes goes down to normal 800 rpms.... and kinda its not very sensitive and responsive from idle when i just tap the gas for reving just to move the car.....
i might get the PM6 back chipped.... i really like the power diff this PG7 does.... i might trade the PM6 and some cash for a Pg7.... if u have one please let me know.... but as for right now i am not going to tamper my harness.... since my ecu tis comming back..... if i keep it then i will fix every code.....

Well I can help you fix the codes if you want. The TPS 2 outer wires have to be swithed no what ECU you use local shop "lied to you" j/k they may not be familure with the differences electonicly. the irratic idling may need to be fixed with the idle screw on the T/B. I had to adjust it when I changed to it. I'll have an xtra PG7 this summer if you may be interested later on

well the shop its actually good. they have ITR's on the OH central racing.. and all that..... they do swaps for fun and have a dyno and ****....
i did cahnge wires... and my idle was ugly as fock..... it will not really rev good.... after the crank angle was fixed... i still had that bad reving.... we swaped the TPs and it got good..... i know its weird

well if u wanna help me fix codes... io have been trying to fix the IAT and the CYL sensor for mths... i have checked the IAT sensor and its under specs.... i get same readings on the ECU plug.... so i really dont know wahts wrong.... i am thinking about adding a IAT from a 6G civic and installing it on my intake..... now when it comes to the CYL sensor.... i have it wired directly from ecu to dizzy..... and still trows me a code..... i have even switched them.. reset ecu , and still there... those are basically the only 2 codes that never seem to go away .....

6 gen IAT for the intake manifold I'm not sure if that will work. I just used the Dx on the intake pipe (zip tied) never had a code from it. Have you checked the continunity on the Sensors in the Diz. Check them all to be safe. Unhook the engine harness from the Diz. There are 6 pins straight up and down. Connect the multimeter to each pin next to each other and should be aprox .450 ohms. If it has no resistance the sensor is bad.
