anyone have problems with their fuel gauge?
mine doesnt show the correct reading on the amount of fuel I actually have >> wondering if its a common issue among 5th gens or if its just a freak thing in mine.
thanks
thanks
i bought hte car this way so no > > what I did do though is try to improve the ground back there but thats about it.
Noticed this on my '94 Accord as well.
Gauge won't go up to "full" when the tank is definitely full.
Have also noticed the gauge will occasionally fluctuate wildly from "empty" to wherever the correct level should be.

Something like that recently happened to me. Filled up my gas tank, and the needle was just a little away from F. Got home, and left the car off until the next day. Didn't have work that night. Got in the car in the morning, and the needle was directly on F. Go figure.
i think it is a know issue with the accord that their fuel guages does not register F when the tank is full. it is always a little below F.
in response to the random locations of the fuel guage, i think some people said it was a broken spring in the fuel tank or something like that.
I have that problem in my current 94 accord, my previous 94 accord and my friend's 96 civic. i just know that i need to fill my tank when i have about 200 miles on my trip meter which i have to reset every time i fill my tank

mine does the same thing basically > i fill the and it does not register a full tank >> its always a little less >> anyone have a clue how much it is to fix the problem?
I've got a 90 accord its fuel gauge is not as bad as some people are saying theirs are but it never does read full when its full its just a little below and when its got about 3 or 4 gallons left in it it reads right on E for about 30 or so miles and then goes back up its just kinda a common problem with hondas. If it bothers you that much you could get it fixed don't know how much it would cost but you should still have your warning light and should still have at least 25-30 miles from the time it light up till empty and you could just hit your trip meter every time you fill up I do it on mine just to make sure

My mom's got a 98 and when she got it the needle would never read full and it would ride around a long time on E before the low fuel light would turn on. Luckily she was still under warranty and Honda replaced the sender to remedy the problem.
My 93 seems to be dead accurate and no problems as of yet but then again it's only got 256,000 miles on it so far.... so it's not even broken in yet. Gotta love those Honda Engineers.

I just wanted to say that alot of cars gas , gauges will not reach the "F" mark . this reminds me when i took a trip to maui i rented a car i got a dodge" neon " , well when you bring back the car to the rental company they ask you to fill it up the tank before you bring it back ,i filled that sucker up gas was spilling out ,thats how full it was, but anyways the needle didnt even read to the full mark. When i got the rental company they told me that all the cars they have will never reach the full mark even if it's full like in my case.
in my 96 accord my gas gauge reads fine. the only thing i dont like about the way my gas gauge reads is , i will set the trip to "0" and i will drive about 100-115 miles and the needle will fall to 3/4 mark after that i will drive 50-80 miles and it will read 1/2 i drive another 50-60 miles and it drops to 1/4 after that it's less then 50 miles before i have to fill up , or have a empty tank. i think this is caused by the (spell check) design the accord gas tank has.

I'm curious about that too because my gauge pretty much does the same thing and I figured over time it would start acting funny I was planning on getting a new cluster because of a bad gauge install

I've got the same prob with my 4th gen having good gas mileage on the first half of the tank about 150-160 but goes to **** afterwards... It also goes above the F line when the tank is full... But i was guessing it could be the air pressure in the gas tank that causes this... After a lot of driving and build up of pressure the tank still looks pretty full but after a while after losing some air pressure in the gas tank the gauge really shows the truth.
Mine works just fine
That was one of the things I loved when I got this car after driving my old Buick that I had....an accurate gas gauge!
