Will a 26" slick fit ...?
I was wondering if anyone know if a 26x8.5x15" slick will fit in a 4th gen wheelwell without any modification. In the past I have mounted some 215/65/15 old winter tires on the stock rims with no problems (and that tire is supposed to be 26" diameter). I would like to know if anyone has experience with tires that big with the stock wheels/fenders.
Thanks
Thanks
The problem will be with the stock rims.....I think we can fit the slicks as far as diameter is concerned, but because of the diameter AND the width they might rub the arms on the inside edge.....if you got some light 15's with a smaller offset (stock is 55mm) you shouldn't have any problems.......the other thing is will they seat on the stock rims? I had a hell of a time getting mine to seat, and I doubt I'd want to run anything bigger without getting a wider rim......
Traction issues?
I'm starting to wonder if the 22x8x15's I'm running are enough......so I might be in the same boat as you pretty soon.......

The control unit is now mounted inside the small glove box on the passenger side.
Back to the topic...I have confirmed that the 26x8x15 will fit on the stock 6.5" wheels. Sidewall stress will be higher than using an 7.5" rim...bu tit will indeed fit. The only problem will lie in the shape of the contact patch (i.e. a crowning will occur at higher psi). Hopefully this can be solved by dropping the tire pressure. I'm just going to play it by ear...if the tires won't end up working on the stock rim, then new rims will have to be purchased.

If you can get the slicks to fit on the rims, I don't think crowning will be too bad at all (if there is any)......I was running mine (22x8) at 13lbs and getting a full contact patch, so I'd assume you should get almost the full 8.5 contact at similar pressures....
Let us know how it turns out!

Yes, 14" is it, and 15" for VTEC calipers.
I used the 22x8x15's on my stock rims for 2 seasons. They did work, but I can't see them working well with serious power, say ~350hp+. I will try them before upgrading though.
Mine also gave me a good contact patch at 11-12lbs, but hurt my top end at the same time- 1.9 60's but 95mph traps (allmotor).
I am surely going to need larger slicks to hookup the way i'd like. M&H makes a nice compound which I may go with.
I was thinking of getting a set of 7" or 7.5" K1's for the slicks. Anyone up for a trade, 22" slicks for wheels?
