5th Gen SS Auto Complaints to NTSHA and Online Petition.
Ok guys,
If any of you are unfamiliar with the SS Auto transmission issues: Honda has recalled and replaced the SS Auto transmissions in other countries and internally admitted to parts problems. They have only warrantied the 2000/2001 Preludes even though all model years use the same parts.
We've finally gotten the information on who to contact at the NTSHA about the issues with the SS Autos.
If you've ever posted a complaint on the NTSHA web site, please post one again and call the guy in this thread:
http://forums.hpoa.org/index.php?act=ST&f=9&t=5751
Mention that you've posted a complaint on their web site, and that you have "safety" concerns about the transmission.
This is REALLY important if you have gone through more than one SS Auto, and especially true if you have a 1997-1999 Prelude.
We are trying to get the 1997-1999 transmissions covered under the extended warranty.
If you have never filed a complaint, please read the above thread and then fill out a complaint on the NTHSA web site:

Additionally, there is also a online petition that deals with the massive failure rates on the various SS Auto transmissions in the Prelude and the Acuras.

Especially in the case of several of them failing in under 100,000 miles. This has happened to me (2 trannies in under 91,000 miles).

I had my whole tranny replaced a while back after a bunch of bitching and getting no where. I called the BBB and they got involved. I seriously don't see a petition helping out the SS owners. Not enough people to complain, Preludes are low sellers. Some people have fought and won and some have lost. I think they best way to deal with the problem is to contact a outside help such as the BBB. I can not tell you how suprised I was from the how Honda went from denying my warranty to bring it in sir have ur new tranny ready. good luck though.
