I've had ENOUGH of this B16 HATE!!
Shut the f*ck up already! There have been way too many threads recently that just end up gang banging the b16s. I am fine with people saying that the b16 is a torqueless wonder and that its lack of displacement is a big disadvantage, but there are way too many members just saying that b16s suck, end of story. Thats just stupid and uneducated. Are they as good as b18s or LSvtecs? No, of course not, but that doesnt mean you should just rule them out. People still swap in d series motors and get less hate. I can see how for most NA applications, a b16 would have a hard time keeping up with its big brothers, but FI evens out the field. Its pretty damn easy to make 300whp in a snailed b16, and its lack of low and middle end torque might be a blessing in disguise with all the traction problems fwd cars have launching on the street.
Just leave us alone damnit. When I had my JRSC, I didnt hate on all the built NA b18s I was stomping on, its not a fair comparison. When people ask about whether or not they should put a b16 in their car, tell them the differences between the two engines and let them come up with a decision. Dont just bash the 1.6ltr just cause you couldnt do anything with it.

i don't see why you have to use such strong words to make your point .. hey the b16a is a great engine but others will have there own love for the others in the b Series line up .. oh well

You don't have to throw a fit man. The only reason you are getting upset is because you know it's true. Everyone has their own opinion. Just leave it at that. But since we are on the subject, you go out and build a B16 with JRSC from the ground up and i will build a B18C1 all motor from the ground up. I bet you anything i would make more power than you. Beacuse thats the way it is. The B18C1 rocks and the B16 sucks. But hey it's just my opinion so don't get mad man.

I'll agree that the bigger brothers of the B16 have alot of potential, but so does the B16. In the end the 1.8's have more potential, 'nuff said but theres no reason to disrespect someone else's work. They've put time into their car just as you have, and you can know in the back of your head whos gonna have the final say on the street/track... at least I know my B16 won't be in the shop every weekend like alot of LS/VTEC setups out there

i agree that people hatin on the b16 is a bit out of hand, but so what. i use it to my advantage. if someone wants to race all i say is that i got a b16 in my car. after i say that its like "ok, i know i can smoke this ***!!!" but in the end its a different story (most of the time). i have it in a eg8 and i still can take out a lot of gsr eg6's. maybe my b16 is just different than the one everyone hates on, but i still think that a b18c1 and c5 is overpriced and i would take a b16 anyday with all my prior racing experiances against eg's with gsr's. b16

I beat b16's with my d16.
My fiancee' has a B16A2 swap in her 1992 Si hatch. It's a great motor, but guys who swap it in and think they can be Billy Street Racer are sorely mistaken.
The B16A is a slow ******* swap compared to the B18 VTEC motors. Sorry but I own 1 of each and the B16A just doesn't compare.
Yeah when the 99-00 Si came out I beat the B16A2 all day long in my stock 1992 Si hatch pulling 15.6 on street tires, full interior with only the spare taken out.

Point is every post about a B16 ends up with someone sayin they are junk and it get's kinda old after a while. They are a fine motor, not as fast as B18c's but they can hold their own and are good for the money.
If you all want to hate then hate on all the bad drivers out there who say the B16 is junk but still run high 14's with their GSR swap
