Default Where have all the R's gone?: The loss of a legend...

I'm extremely worried that the extinction of the dc2 ITR is soon. I currently do not own a car but plan on buying one once I am out of tech school (Air Force). I am extremely worried though that the pick of R's will almost be gone. I want a 2001 Black and completely stock. Price is not object to me in this case but more and more I hear about R's being stolen and modified in extremely bad taste and it saddens me more and more since I feel that my dream will be lost. If any of you plan on selling your R one day, let me know. I trust a lot of the R owners here. Thanks

I wouldn't worry about it. By that time it will be cheaper too. I see ITR's go for less than 10k or close to that in 10 years.

I plan on buying one in about 1 yr exactly, maybe sooner...depending on how tech school is going and my down payment.

1 year or less? You have NOTHING to worry about.

Judging the way that people on H-T take care of their ITRs (mind you, many of them not even seeing winter conditions - some not even rain), you should not be worried at all. Although the thefy rates are higher than average, and *some* people have no taste in modifying, you shouldn't be too worried about not finding a nice black ITR.

I'm in the same shoes. In a little while, as soon as university is done with, and I land that IT job @ Motorola, I should be buying an ITR. Although I'm not too picky about the colour - either CW or PY. What matters for me is what is powering that puppy - where all the money will be invested!

I wouldnt worry about it too much cause there are plenty around. Plus all the cars that are coming out will distract them from getting an ITR. For some reason I dont think that you will find alot of people who are just getting into imports who are going to look at the Type R. I think you will find that the only people wanting an ITR will be people who have been in the scene for a while. To elaborate a little more on all the new cars. When you see all the new cars coming out like the Lancer, STI, and the Dodge SRT4 there will be alot of people selling their R's to get these cars and u will also find a bunch of new people who will think about getting into imports cause of these new cars. I think the market for used ITRs is mainly those who always wanted an ITR, but could not afford to buy a new one.

PY's are slower than most GSR's, the black ones are the fastest

I think that the R's will not ever go that low in value 10k.....no way
You forget that they are a collectors car, just look at the price of a mustang shelby now compared to when they first came out

Mustang shelby is nothing like the ITR.

In 10 years, the car won't be even comparable to the sports car of then. The only people that will be buying the ITR's in 10 years are those that couldn't afford to buy them when they were newer.

Don't forget the EG/DC2 chassis has been around since 1992. It was released in 1991 (1992 EG) as the civic and in 1993 (1994 Integra). That's 12 and 10 years respectively.
