question for all 4th gen. who have lowered there car
I just ordered a set of 17" wheels.......I want to lower my car before I put them on....I would prefer to use lowering springs and drop it 1.5-2" all around........how long will my stock shocks last? and what is some good advice you can give me about lowering my car.........ie. should I buy coilovers and new shocks instead....etc. Im trying not to spend too much money but I want to do this right the first time
For over 2 yrs i just ran ground controls, the only reason i upgraded the struts later was for better handling. you'll be fine with just a set of ground controls...
my camber is not off and I just got Neuspeed sport springs.. 1.75 drop..

What's the lowest a 4th gen can be dropped without the camber being off too much, requiring a camber kit. Ive always heard the general rule is if its over 1.5" drop then you need camber correction. But, Lildrgn you say yours is 1.75 and no correction needed....
Lildrgn....also, what size wheels/tires do you have?

i have g controls and i left my stock struts for a yr. before i blew them, but my car is around 2-2.5 all around. I have my stock 15's on there. My camber is pretty bad though. I would go with g controls. I got mine for right under 300. That way you can lower or raise your car if you decide to run your stockers again, or a different set of rims. i would plan on buying new struts in the near future though if you want to drop it 2 or more inches. A camber kit will also be needed, but if you want to do it right the first time, then spend the extra 100 and later spend another 2-400 on nice struts. i got tociko iluminas, which are fully adjustable. i payed like 420 for them. Email me if you want the site.
Is it worth the money to get the energy suspension Hyper-Flex system??? Some of my rubber inserts are bad and need new ones and was debating between stock or the hyper flex ones
You can drop up to a 1.75" drop and not need a camber kit for ludes. After that tire longevity becomes a major issue. Also, shocks will last a while on a drop up to about 2", but new shocks make for a much better ride.

do you still have your stock shocks?
do you still have your stock shocks?
my car has been dropped since '97. I did get a camber kit for the front and back afte a few years due to excessive tire wear. I have 17" rims and am still riding on the stock shocks with no probs at all.

i have a 4th gen lowered on H&R race springs (1.75 i think correct me if im wrong) for about 6 months and I completely wasted a brand new set of tires. I just got a camber kit and its not working like i hoped.
