Default Turbo mani- tubular vs. log style

Is there much of a flow difference when comparing a tubular manifold( not equal length) to a log style?

That is the manifold i will be getting...also does it look like a wastegate will clear a hood on a del sol?

there is no possible way that that wastegate flange will clear the hood! it might just fit if you cut the support of your hood out ...but i doubt it!

Yeah I don't think that will fit, here is the manifold that I am running (not the exact but damn close)

Edit - yes it is worth it to run a tubular, dosen't crack, flows a lot better!!!

If you're planning on running that mani on a Del Sol you'll probably need to cut the wastegate neck and have a 90 degree elbow welded on to lay the wastegate on its side...

do you think i would be able to weld a mild steel 90 degree bend to that manifold?

Hmmm... that mani looks to be made of schedule 40 weld els... it's carbon steel alloy - a common material for fabricated manifold these days. You'll need to get a 1 1/4 " 90 degree elbow and have that welded on after the current wastegate neck is cut off. The elbow is pretty cheap, like 5-10 bucks at an industrial supply shop. Dunno how much a welder is gonna charge for labor though... Oh, and you'll need
a new wastegate flange or else cut and reuse the old one.

the thing is- i already have a 1 3/8 180 degree u bend that i was planning on using for a dumptube...will i be able to cut a 90 degree bend out of this and weld it to the manifold? Its the aluminized mild steel from jc whitney

I think you'll be better off using the schedule 40 weld el piece cuz it's pretty tough to weld two very different thicknesses of material. The thinner mild steel piece that you have might evaporate before the schedule 40 pipe even warms up... A good TIG welder can probably get the job done, but you'll still end up w/ a mani that has two different types of material in it. Besides the Schedule 40 stuff is so much stronger... wouldn't want the wastegate to snap off the manifold, would we?

Turbopimp.. That manifold is made from 16g 321 stainless.. That is what the wastgate tube should be made from if your going to modify it. Burnsstainless sells it and I am sure dave at super t can also supply some.

Overblown-Teg, I was responding to the original poster in this thread. The manifold shown in that original post does not appear to be 16 ga. 321 stainless. It *looks* to be schedule 40 carbon steel, which is pretty common material for fabricated manifols these days... Somehow the thread was diverted in focus to the Super T Motorsports manifold, which I believe is fabricated from 321 stainless. If indeed the manifold pictured in the original post is schedule 40 carbon steel then the wastegate neck should be of the same material. If it is 321 stainless then the neck should be 321 stainless... point being that the manifold should be modified with the same type of material...

Sorry- Some how I totally missed the first picture. I just saw all the super T ones. My mistake. Your right it does look like schedule 40 steel.

TheShocker - Very nice setup you have. Would you be able to take some pictrues as to how you made the pipe connect from your turbo to the Intercooler. I am just wondering about the fitment and spacing.

Thanks.

There is no pipe on it. Just a coupler. Gotta hit it from the backside.
