rear wheel?
People do fairly commonly switch wheels around. You would have to check into it a little closer to see if you can do it with the two bikes you are thinking about. Remember that you may dramatically change the handling characteristics of your bike. Even more common than changing wheels is putting a wider tire on your original wheel. This usually has an adverse effect on your handling. If you are going for look then don't worry about it and change it, if you want better performance you better look into it more.

To be honest, I'm really looking at that first gen ninja and it already has a a 17inch mag wheel (the originally came with 16's). The reason why I ask is because I have a guy that says he will give me $500 for the rear wheel if I buy the bike and if I get it I would definitely sell the rear wheel for about that much if I can replace it with a standard wheel for around $100. I will look into it more and find out how serious he was about the price. Maybe work at a deal where he would give me less cash and trade me his current wheel.
bigger-wider wheels.... give ya a bit more lag on the turns. Me buddy has a 1995 9RR... the fronts of those bikes...stok run 16's.... he wanted to switch up with an F3. which would fit perfectly on there. This way, he had less front end wobble..... but the turns.... were a lot wider!!
