Default jdm rear strut bar...

hello everyone, i'm new here...

a couple of weeks ago i purchased a nice 01 itr with 13k on the clock. i have a couple of questions for those of you with patience towards new blood.

is the JDM rear strut bar still available through my local acura dealer, or has production ceased? i've found a few online, but would like to know if i can just run down to my neighborhood dealership and pick one up.

before anyone gets up in arms, i've done a search and read have read my fill of archived posts... i need some up to date information here.

thanks.

The JDM rear strut tower bar is only available overseas.

You must order one from someone who imports them.

Remember this the rear JDM type R strut bar is NOT solid.

Remember not to buy those cheap Ebay knock-offs. Welcome to the board. Where are you from?

yeah. no knock-offs, i read a lot about that in the archived posts. no black painted ends for me. i also know to inspect the cross section to verify authenticity. no stampings on the bar... etc.

i'm from san diego, i bought the car in irvine from a mature auto enthusiest looking to thin out his collection. never raced or auto-xed. lots of goodies and doo-dads. jackson charger, baer 13inch brakes up front. vtec controller. goodtimes.

thanks for the warm welcome everyone!

seeing as you don't know anything about the buyer, you sure are quick to make snap decisions. this wasn't some young jerk who raced about town in his type r, he is a successful, middle aged business man with five cars. the dude has an e39 M5 among other rad cars.

i have built a good relationship with the previous owner, and i doubt he is bullshitting me about how he drove the car. sure, he prolly drove it hard from time to time, but who doesn't?

just because he likes his cars fast, doesn't mean he abused the hell out of it. not everyone is like you.

sheesh.

daaaayyyaaaammmn hoomie, calm down there. it's just a matter of truth. our cars were built to be abused, and that's what most people do with their R's.

yeah man, i know... it's just i don't like people trying to tell me about **** they don't know about.

i understand these cars are type Rs and that means they have a tendency to be flogged. like i said in my last post, i don't doubt he drove her hard sometimes, but to listen to the guy talk about it; i can guarantee he was not out playing stoplight drag races with the ricers of orange county.

he wanted his car to go to a responsible driver who would take care of his baby after he let her go... he wasn't desperate to sell, he just wanted fewer cars to insure. he sold the car to me, cause he knows i would take care of it.

he modded the car, because he wanted to get the most performance out of the vehicle, not because he wanted to impress other people with his killer racing skills.

like i said... i have maintained a relationship with the previous owner, and i honestly believe him when he says he didn't race the car. you may find it hard to believe, but that is your problem. why should you care anyway? it's my car.

well either way. congrats on your new car. matters not to me at all how the car is, as long as it's in good hands. you're pretty local, and i'm in san diego every once in a wihle. i'll have to let u know when i'm there \

edit: i'm an idiot. i don't know why i think you're in san diego

It's all good. Welcome to the board!

I have the JDM rear strut, and I like it. You don't have to cut anything and it's not overkill.
