Im selling my h22 civic and thinking about swapping a b-series vtec motor into my ek. i would like to go allmotor, but i would also like to know what is the highest compression i can use with pump gas without knocking/pinging. im aware that other factors must be upgraded (internals/fuel delivery). any answers will be appreciated.

 

I've seen guys run 12:1 CR on 93 octane.

Get a good standalone and a REALLY GOOD tuner and you should be fine. Just don't be reving to 9k rpms daily.

 

about the highest i know is 12.5:1 on pump gas with mad tuning. A couple cars are running b20vtecs with 12.5:1 and hondata around h-town. later

 

IMO 13:1 is not out of the question. It'll run like a race car though...

 

im running 13-1 on 94 octane........ many problems without tunning though

 

what kind of results would i get with a gsr motor with 12:1 compression + hondata? anyone know?

let me ask this...whats the difference between a b18c w/ 12:1 pistons rather than a type-r motor stock (other than lsd and cams)

 

head is mildly ported, better oil pump, lower compression, different combustion chamber size, intake valves, crank. thats about all i can think of off the top of my head.

 

Im runnin about 12.5:1 on 93octane. Im going to try 100 octane from Exxon on my next fillup.

when people are saying they are running 12.5:1 on pump gas. Are they referring to static or dynamic compression?
