finally got my car started (was waiting on a dizzy) and was noticing a little ticking noise but doesnt seem to be from the engine sound like its coming from the tranny. so i go to back out and the clutch grabs at like the top of the travel of the peddle and there is a kinda wistling noise coming from the tranny....any ideas???

 

sup...i couldn't tell you whats wrong but dam i got the same problem going. First gear sounds nasty when i beat on it. Sounds like my trannys about to blow. Not too sure though but hey lemme know if you find out what happends

 

umm, this is old. the verdict was: my tranny is gay...

...its the throwout bearing im pretty sure. the noises pretty much all go away when the clutch is pressed in. i really dont care at the moment, i think it will last a couple months (dont want it that long though) so im not going to do anything.

new problem: unknown used clutch from junkyard doesnt like 10psi of boost and smoking the tires into second...

 

doesn't sound like the tob, sounds more like a prob with the gear set, i had a tranny in my 92 sedan that was doing the same thing.

sorry to steal your post, but i'm also having a tranny noise. when i down shift it makes a noise i can't explain, but it runs fine, and deosn't grind or anything.

probly the bearings in the tranny...
