Default Mad Thanks to Jim at Jimfab.com!!!!! Crossmember Pics inside!

Just wanted to thank Jim. He is a great guy to deal with. He respond to all emails fast and was very helpful. If you been thinking about ordering one of these, Jim is the man! I was shopping for a new cross member to help eliminate my wheel hop, I've been having problems due to the dual friction clutch and 17" wheels. But this thing works great! Here are a couple pics of the cross member on my 89 CRX with a dirty B18A1... By the way I ordered mine with out the front mount tabs due to me running the 3 piece Billet Hasport mounts.

I believe that's what he makes them with. I just requested mine with out it since I had to chop off my original mount tabs on my old cross member cause my LS engine would rub against them.

Cool. So did they improve traction a lot? How much weight did it save? The stock crossmember looks like a heavy bastard.

I was surprised at the quality of the powder coating as well. It was so shinny and doesn't scratch as easy as paint. Definitely a high quality! You can really feel the difference in the launching as well as corning. I've been wanting one for almost 2 years. I was going to go with the Z-10 cross member, but they want to rob a bitch. And then I was going to go with the MMR unit. But they didn't even have it in stock and were kind of rude over the phone. But a couple people recommended the Jimfab unit here on HT. And it was definitely well worth the 350 bones......

Yeah? How is it? I heard several horror stories of these things breaking on daily drivers.

The Jimfab's are GREAT for daily driving. Just keep an eye on the teflon ends for wear, and you'll be fine....

I've only had it on for a couple of days, but i'm lovin it! Car seems to dig into the corneners now. And when I launch it.... insted of me getting any wheel hop, I have more of a controlled spin. As for street ablilty it's been great so far. I can't imagine it breaking. A couple people from here recomend the JimFab unit. And now I see why. Great Quility, and well worth shoveling out the $350.

Sounds sweet. I was thinking about upgrading mine. But kinda worried if it would suck in the corners. Drag is not my thing, so how does thing like the corners compared to stock. How is it on braking, any shacking or anything?

I got one sitting in my room. I didn't know I could order it without the bracket though, I'm gonna have to take the sawzall to it or something.

Does using the jimfab unit inhibit alignment? I use my crossmember for my jack point, I don't think it would be a good idea to use a jack on that...is there a better place other than the LCA? I'm definatly considering ordering one soon.

Ok... the AutoCAD drawing is hard to look at, but I get the idea. I got a question now - where are the STOCK radius rods in comparison to the aftermarket locations? I would think Z10 used the factory locations which would follow the many hours that Honda engineers spent time in designing.

Lets get this straight. The autocad drawing is for a civic crossmember. Even the ex-employee from Z10, who seems to be the one that supplied the drawing, says that the CRX crossmember-radius setup is just as good from both JimFab and Z10. Then lets talk about quality...I corresponded with owners/designers of both setups, both were very knowledgeable and accomidating. Jim at JimFab said that the Z10's were great units but that his radius arms were "100 times stronger". Well how is this? Because they are chromolly. Were as the Z10's are aluminum. Well it is true that chromolly is stronger...but it will break when it goes and aluminum will bend first. As for the Z10's radius arms breaking or bending Mr Shultz from z10 said it's happened once and that if it ever happened they would replace it. As far as construction I have seen both now, and anyone who knows anything about engineering can easily see that the quality of the Z10's is a step higher. Get a chance to look at both in person and you will see what I mean. "keep an eye on the teflon bushings" Check out a closeup of the Z10 bushings!

Now is it worth the extra hard earned cash and then pay extra if you have a D series motor for the front mount? That is a decision you will have to make. Certainly the JimFabs are a "better" deal. But to say the Z10's are not as good is not good science.

Another thing to remember is that you have to take the radius arms off the JimFab units to adjust them, whereas you can adjust them on the car with the Z10's.

Don't wanna start anything, and I'm not backing the Z10's just because I ended up getting them. I strained my brain for months trying to figure out which to get.

And now for a real TECH question:

Will either the Jimfab and/or Z10's bolt up on the SiR frontmember?

I want one.. my gf says it can't be stiff enough

Found the answer myself.. the D serie quipped cars (HF, DX, Si, ZC) have a different bolt pattern. One of the bolts is placed further outwards.. I'll send Jim an email if he is willingly to make a couple of sets for the SiR models. There should be quite some of them in the US as well (import ofcoz)

I will check my car and get some dimension.. perhaps it is possible/neccesary to replace the SiR beam alltogether
