If you want to "stiffen" your car - it's the springs/dampers you need to alter first - not the swaybars. This is a common misconception. The Mugen bars are meant to work with (the Mugen) coilovers which have much higher spring rates than stock.

What kind of experience do you have? If you are a novice - keep your car stock - and play with tire pressures only.

What kind of tires does your car have?

I think that Mugen is a little more hardcore than you need. I mean they make a 30mm front bar for the EK, that is one serious piece of equipment.

Good topic more opinions please.

I've got a Mugen 22mm rear bar with a stiffened suspension and it's ripped through the sub-frame twice. I'd be very careful with that 26mm or 30mm bar.

However, I would say that one of the best suspension modifications you can make is a larger rear sway bar. Even on stock springs/shocks you'll see a big improvement in the handling.

For autocross struts and springs, I'd recommend Koni Yellows and some Ground Control springs. Mix that with the ITR or Mugen rear sway and you've got a great start on suspension for autocross.
