When using a chipped p28 ecu on a stock b18c1, would there be any gains? What happens with the secondaries? do they always remain open, and wouldnt this cause a loss in low end power? just asking because i have a stock p28 laying around and i was thinking of getting it chipped just for the hell of it. any info would be appreciated.

Thanks for your reply. anyone know what exactly gets changed when chipping a p28? im guessing the fuel and timing maps get changed. does everyone generally use the same program? or does everyone's chipped p28 program vary?

there are many different programs. By chipping a p28, you insert a programmed rom which has different fuel and timing curves compared to stock. More aggressive that is. Take the mugen program for example: Dumps a lot of fuel, runs real rich, but vtec is very aggressive. People w/ GSR's usually get the skunk2 program or my custom n/a program. Just for the fact that they have a jg or a skunk2 manifold. Also, itr cams or any aftermarket cams....help a lot. If you have any more questions, feel free to contact me... or i can post what i know here

if your running stock intake manifold
p28 defaults secondaries open.
so they remain open at all times
you really gain nothing because they will open up at 5700 anyways
but loose lower/midrange
stock im you should stick with stock p72

right now im running a p28 chipped skunk program 4800 to 9000 on my stock gsr do u think this will have more gains then the p72 ecu
im running a stock manafold let me know asap i know the secondares iab aint opending up

I have used a chipped P30 in my JDM Si integra, felt really weak low down but pulled real strong above 5500rpm, but seeing as my car is a daily driver the top end power didnt suit so i just put back in the stock P72. With any chipped ecu (evrything but a P72) the secondary inlet runners remain open all the time...hense loss of low end power
