Its time for me to get a helmet. I'm in CT, and I'm willing to go anywhere from Boston, down to Maryland (or I'll go into PA) to find a shop with a good selection of helmets that I can try out. Thanks!

Cool! The shop with the most brand selection is probably teh best. I guess I'll be takin' a run through Jersey then. Obee: did you really buy the $700 helmet (or the $1000) from Arai? I know the motorcylists love Arai.

 

Stop!!! This weekend at the Big-E in Springfield, MA is RACE-A-RAMA. They have a bunch of venders with loads of inventory. I went there last year for all my safety equipment for IT, and I found the prices were better than the best I found online.

 

I have not purchased it yet,but I plan to get the Arai GP-5k. The GP-5 is really designed for F1 racing. The GP-5 has a slightly larger eyeport which is nice when your doing "sedan" style racing or HPDE stuff. The OMP was very nice,but gave me a pressure point on my forhead. This would maybe work itself out over time,but I just felt like if I'm gonna spend $579 on the OMP I would just spend $699 on the Arai,which fit nothing short of amazing. Driving Impressions offers a 10% discount to all NASA members as well,so the helmet will be more like $630. This is my personal scenario however,I have a small head (7 1/8") the Bell M2 and Bieffe predator,simply did not fit me. Those helmets are more toward the $300 range,but if they don't fit you what good is the $200 you saved? So F!@# it,I'll buck up and hopefully not have to buy another for like 5 years.

Where's the Big E in Springfield? Looks like I might have to skip the M Club auto-x for my helmet purchase....
