I already searched and found nothing that answered my specific question so here it goes:

Q: If i sand paper the rust off of the stock steel wheels do i have to primer them, or is the sand paper sufficient?

Also, will it have an effect on the lugs if i sand them? I want to be abel to take the wheels off and not strip them by sanding.

If I were you, I'd sand down the rust, then primer it a few coats, then paint them the desired color.

 

they are STEELIES,so i wouldnt put TOO much effort into them... i just cleaned mine and sprayed with like a bunch of coats of black and they are holding up perfectly

yes...or they will rust like a ****, you need some sort of protection from the bare metal
