Understeer / Oversteer
I actually have a question regarding oversteer and how to best handle it. (Noob at auto-x/soon to be at the track)
I know my 94 Prelude understeers when I am going into a turn a little hot and while I'm on the gas a little at slower speeds. (100% of the time)
When I'm going 60+mph into a turn a little hot, the rear end tends to break loose first.
Q: What is the best way to handle this with a front wheel drive car? I know that all rwd cars can turn into the skid and control the car in that fashion. Us fwd cars can also turn into the skid, but should we brake as well? Leave your foot off the brake?
Thanks for any advice
BTW, my lude has Eibach pros, tokiko illumina's, front upper tie, rear upper and lower ties.

Correct oversteer in a FWD by counter steering and getting on the throttle.
NEVER brake to try to correct oversteer, that will guarantee a spin.

i think the best remedy is to not enter the turn so hot. try to brake a little more, a little longer to slow yourself down, and then smoothly point the car in the right direction. learn how to control the car, not have the car control you, then thats where the real fun begins.
the car is oversteering because youre entering the turn with too much weight in the front which means theres less grip in the rear, so do whatever you can to not dive too much into the turn.
if the rear is coming out in the turn, then youre taking too small a radius for the speed youre going, either slow it down or increase the radius by turning later or using more of the available track. while it doesnt make too much sense at first to keep accelerating when this happens, you really dont want to ever lift the throttle to slow it down. just keep it even and possibly slightly more gas to help put more weight transfer to the rear.

Thanks for the info guys
Yeah, my driving skills and knowledge of the car is getting better, but I guess it will take time just like anything else. >More practice

Two autocrosses ago, our Civic Si was pushing like a freight train. Last event it was perfect. The difference? I didn't drive like a spaz. As a wise man once told me, go slow to go fast.
Try entering a touch slower and see what happens.

With that in mind you will actually"feel" the car in the corners and not just the crazy feel of what do i do now.
