i've got a broken crank pulley can i still go to the red? in my b16?
here is a picture:
and another
Will this cause me problems?? I just got the swap, i haven't put it in my car yet, but i need to do the swap this weekend. so... I need to know if i need to go to the junkyard and rip one of an engine or not? I plan on getting the racing pulley's later on, but right now i'm on a strict budget.
Thanks for your help

i'm not sure how much help it'll be to tell you that mine looks just like that, i've been driving it for about 2 weeks and it's doing fine!
well, that makes me feel better. Just if your engine goes "capoowee", tell me first, that way i can stop driving
and get a new pulley
and get a new pulley
i got a used good condition crank pulley for B series i can sell you 35$ shipped. Being chipped like that will cause premature wear on the belts, and throw your crank out of balance. possibly causing wear on your crank bearings. etcc. let me know

Yep don't use it, it is unbalenced.
get a new one. imean....id be lazier if it was in my car...at the moment, but if it aint in a car right now itll be easy to replace
mines cracked just like yours..it wont effect anything because you only need to run the indide belt to the alternator anyway..it will be fine..i cant notice any vibration
Take one of your house fans and break a blade off of it, now turn it on to high and see how it acts. I would not run it.

the unbalance weight will make it liuke a vibrator... have u seen the vibrator on a PS2 controler... it has a chunk off.. that thing will vibrate bad and hurt ur bottom end... take it out and get a new one or used one... ASAP
Why would anyone even risk it, you just bought this motor thats all nice and clean. And you can't spend 50 more bucks on a used pully. Do things right the first time. Or pay later.
dont drive it long. and dont take it to high rpm. unbalanced wont hurt it immediately. but it puts stress on the bearings . git it all shaved off around. or find a new one. chips that big make a difference. not instant but long term.
It will take time for the unbalanced pulley to mess stuff up, but beleive me, waiting 2 weeks for to get a new pulley (or the $$ for it) will save you in the long run. I recently rebuilt a motor (granted it was a GM V6) that had a similar problem. Over time it wore 2 main bearings, caused vibrations in 2 of the pistons and bowed the crank. So much for ANYTHING in the motor turning any more. Hope this helps you decide!
BTW I saw your post the other day, even if u don't have $$ for it now, wait til u do

although one thing you gotta remember most domestics are externally balanced as well, so the crank is a big part of the balancing.
if i have a first gen b16, and i want a stock new pulley, what and where can i get one from? with the right timing marks?
example a 94 del sol vtec
so yeah thats my question.

I had the same problem when I got my swap. Both the crank and alternator pulleys were chipped and cracked. I bought a crank pulley for a 94+ Integra GSR and the alternator pulley for the 90-91 integra LS. They both worked fine.
Get a new one....unblanced is bad like everyone said..you could put it on a lathe and shave that lip down if you wanted..it would be balanced when shaved on a lathe
sorry to but in on this one...but i have the same problem...i have another crank pulley but do i turn it clockwise or counterclockwise to get that damn crank pulley bolt off???im hitting it with an air gun the thing wont budge....
CCW is to loosen, just like a regular bolt. You'll probably have to brace the flywheel with something to loosen it.
