Default Cutting valve cover for cam gear adjustments?

Anybody decide to cut their valve cover rather than buying a pre cut valve cover?

How did the aluminum cut? what tool did you use? jigsaw? cutoff wheel? holesaw? dremel?

I just dont want to pay for a new valve cover when I already own one...
any suggestions on how to handle this?

thanks...

10 seconds using a bandsaw and you're done.

get some of those 1st grade scissors and go slow

to help a little why not take it to a shop and have em plasma cut it off?

or you can send your valve cover to the people that laser cut them (forgot name), but then you have no valve cover for a little while

I did mine with an abrasive metal cutting blade in a table saw...I use the same blade to do piping with my mitre saw.

you're right, there are lots of possibilities, I am just curious if the stuff cuts okay with a jigsaw or something like that, or does it take like 20 blades to do it .... etc.

thanks.

Aluminum is very soft...you should be able to do it with a fine tooth metal blade and clean up the surface with dremel or sanding block

See if there are any metal working shops or machine shops in your area with a metal blade bandsaw. If they're friendly people, i'm sure they wouldn't mind cutting your valve cover for a small fee. It only take them a few seconds, it's really easy to cut.
