Hey me and my friend have a argument about when the first si where made he says 88-89 i say those wher known as the crx please answer thanx ill aprreciate. Ithink they where made 96,97, or 98 not sure thanx

 

The following is all about the USDM Civic. 1985 was the first Civic to bear the Si badge. Prior to that, they had a Civic S. They had Si models in 1988-91 in both the Civic and CRX. From 1992-1995 they also had a Civic Si. BTW Civic Si was always a hatchback, until 1998 when they came out with the coupe.

not true ...in 81 , there was a Civic Hatchbach 1300 Si ....it was all black ..had the red Si insignia in the front grill

Where did you get this info from? In 83 there was the first Civic S, but no Si before that. Remember that Si stands for "Sport Injection" i.e. fuel injected cars.

 

yes, the precursor to the SI was in fact the 1500S, which i promptly yanked the cam out of and had it reground. car ran like a biotch from hell. when the CRX si came out they couldnt figure out how i was kicking there *** every weekend between the cones

There was first the Civic 1500GL in 1980, and then the Civic S in 1983, and then finally the Civic Si was created in 1986 when they added PGM-FI fuel injection. The CRX Si was indroduced in 1985, a year earlier than the Civic Si. There was no Civic Si in 1988, from 1996 through 1998, and in 2001.

And BTW, it is indeed "Sports injection."

I've owned a 1980 1300DX, a 1984 1500S, a 1989Si, a 1990Si, and a 2002Si.
I'm pretty sure the 4th gen Si was made from 88-91. They're all cool.

Yes, I know. I just find it funny that someone so blatently corrected my correct information with incorrect info.
