Default **Theft Question**

I know a lot of cars have been stolen even though they have an alarm on the car. How did the thief take the car. The reason for asking is because I am looking for an Alarm and I am trying to figure out if they are just finding the Brain of the alarm and unpluging it or are they still just patching into the ignition system? Otherwise it doesn't matter if you get an alarm or not.

there are many alarms that are on N/C relays for the starter/ignition interrupt... find the brain, unplug the alarm.. and boom the car starts just as if it didn't have an alarm... its less secure but then they don't have consumers who blow a fuse, don't know how to change it or something and are left stranded... then tons of customer complaints to the shop or manufacturer.... less liability

installation is key...

So the key is to get the brain as far up the dash as possible. Maybe behind the vents or something of that nature. I am going to have to take the dash out for a change of color so when that time comes I will have place to relocate the module. Thanks. Oh yea one last thing, I have seen a car that required you to push the defrost button once and then turn the lights on to start the car. I am sure this was done with relays as well but are you familiar with how?

well one thing not to do is discuss it over the internet Lolz.. just be creative and hide it somewhere that is hard to access, hard to see.. and hard to find.. if you were a theif think where you would look first (up the steering column/dash from the pedals, or something).. and well yeah don't put it where you think its visible, easy to access, or rip out/de-activate.. other than that make sure your install is clean and that wires are hidden/stealth..

yeah my friend installs alarms and he told me of using "ghost kill switches" where you have to activate some kind of factory/standard switch thats already in the vehicle before it will start...

all in all.. just be creative.. hide it well, make it stealth, and don't discuss your security measures w/ others (even friends that you can seemingly trust... they might be dumbasses and be like "oh yeah my boy's integra is dope.. you have to press the defrost button and flick on this and that before it'll even start"... then next thing you know.. your secrets out and your cars gone.. either directly or indirectly by your "trusted friends")... haha ok well you get the picture..

good luck w/ your security venture..

Yea, I was at work when I first posted so I was hurrying to post it up and I did not see the Audio/Security forum. I always thought that it was Audio only. Plus I wanted information geared towards the Integra as well. Next time I will post in the audio/security section.

After you park your car for the night, attach one end of a string to your car, and the other end to your big toe....and keep the 12 gauge handy.
Personally, I keep my car in a locked garage or in my drive-in basement.

Keep 'em safe people ! and FAWK thieves !
